Bronze gamelan, which is centered on instruments, has many commonalities in both Java and Bali, such as the fact that the ensemble is made up of four groups of instruments, that the constituent instruments vary relatively freely around a basic main melody, that it has a unique rhythmic structure based on a four-beat rhythm with emphasis on the last beat, and that it uses a five-tone scale, but there are differences in style between the four regions of West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Bali. In West Java, there are two types, Gamelan Dugung and Gamelan Kulinigang, the former of which has a clear main melody played by the seling and the latter by the singer, and the ensemble of other instruments is not very complex and is subordinate to the main melody. On the other hand, in Bali, there are several types, of which Gamelan Kebyar is the most popular.

　楽器を中心とする青銅ガムランは，ジャワとバリのどちらにおいても四つの楽器群から合奏が成り立っていること，骨格となる主旋律を基にして，構成楽器が比較的自由に変奏を行うこと，4拍子を基本とし最後の拍に重点がおかれる独特のリズム構造をもつこと，5音音階を用いること，など多くの共通点をもっているが，ジャワの西部･中部･東部･バリの4地域にそれぞれ様式の差が見られる。西部ジャワには，ガムラン･ドゥグン，ガムラン･クリニガンという二つのタイプがあり，前者はスリン，後者は歌が，はっきりとした主旋律を受け持ち，他の楽器の合奏自体はあまり複雑でなく，上の主旋律に対して従の関係にある。一方，バリにはいくつかのタイプがある中で，ガムラン･クビヤルが最もポピュラーである。…
