Kanem Empire

Japanese: カネム帝国 - かねむていこく
Kanem Empire

In the late 14th century, the nomadic Bulala people east of Lake Chad rebelled, so King Ibrahim abandoned Kanem, drove out the Saw people, and moved the capital to Birni Ngazargam in the Bornou region southwest of Lake Chad. This is why it is called the Kanem-Bornou Empire (the period before the capital was moved is sometimes called the Kanem Empire, and the period afterwards is sometimes called the Bornou Empire). The empire reached its zenith during the late 16th century under King Idris Arom.
