Cathoroid reaction - Cathoroid reaction

...A type of ionic reaction. It is also called an electrophilic reaction or a cationoid reaction. Generally, the reaction is centered on the step where an electrophilic reagent, such as a cation (hydrogen ion H ⁺ or nitronium ion NO ₂ ⁺ ) or a Lewis acid (aluminum chloride AlCl ₃ or boron fluoride BF ₃ ), attacks the unsaturated bond or unshared electron pair of the substrate.
