Scheelite - Scheelite (English spelling)

It is one of the important ores of tungsten (W). It occurs in pneumatogenetic or high-temperature hydrothermal deposits, contact metasomatic deposits (skarn-type deposits), and pegmatites. In pneumatogenetic or high-temperature deposits, it is found in quartz veins and occurs together with wolframite, molybdenite, cassiterite, arsenopyrite, and native bismuth. In contact metasomatic deposits, it occurs together with pyrrhotite, pyrrhotite, and chalcopyrite. It is chemically continuous with the molybdenum-substituted pyrrhotite, but since it has been revealed that the space group of the intermediate is different, seyrigite, which was previously considered a variety, may become an independent species. Its euhedral shape is square bipyramidal. The pseudocrystal of ferrite formed after scheelite is called reinite (chemical formula FeWO4 ). It is famously produced at the Otome Mine in Makioka, Yamanashi Prefecture (now Makioka, Yamanashi City). It is identified by its properties such as its high specific gravity and luminescence when exposed to ultraviolet light. Its English name comes from Swedish chemist Karl Wilhelm Scheele (1742-1786), who discovered tungsten trioxide in the ore in 1781 (the element tungsten was discovered in 1783).

灰重石後の鉄重石仮晶をライン鉱reinite(化学式FeWO4)という。
