In 1200, he followed his older brother, Kajiwara Kagetoki, who plotted a rebellion against the shogunate, but when Kagetoki was killed in the Battle of Kitsunezaki in Suruga (Shizuoka Prefecture), he surrendered to the Hojo clan. In 1201, he joined Wada Yoshimori's rebellion and resisted the shogunate and the Hojo clan again, but was defeated and killed on May 3 of the same year. He was from Suruga.
