...The Chinese relic containers are famous for the stupas built in various places during the Renshou period (601-604) by Emperor Wen of the Sui dynasty. For example, at the Futian Temple in Lizhou, built in the 4th year of the Renshou period (604), the relics are placed in a glass jar, which is then nested in gold, silver, and gilt-bronze jars, which are then placed in a stone casket. At the Hongan Temple in Hebei Province, built in the 9th year of the Kaiyuan period (721) during the Tang dynasty, glass jars containing the relics are nested in the order of gold, silver, and stone. The Chinese method was faithfully followed on the Korean peninsula, and several examples have been identified, particularly from Silla. ...
