What is the disease?

Excessively strong labor pains are called hypertonic labor. The contractions of the uterus are very strong and last long.

What is the cause?

A condition in which delivery cannot proceed even if there are sufficient contractions ( Narrow pelvis ( Today's meal ) , Cephalopelvic disproportion ( Self-employed person ) , Soft birth canal strength ( Nansando Kyojin ) In cases where the cause is in the birth canal, such as in cases of large babies, Breech presentation ( Top ) , Lateral position ( Oui ) If this condition continues for a long time (for example, when the cause is due to fetal position or attitude), labor pains may become excessively strong.

If the effects of the labor-inducing drugs are too strong, it can result in hypertonic labor.

How symptoms manifest

The mother becomes excited due to the intense pain. She may become unable to control her movements, and may fall off the bed or delivery table.

Labor progresses rapidly, and strong forces are applied before the birth canal is ready, which can lead to uterine rupture. Cervical laceration ( Competition ) , perineal laceration, Attenuation bleeding ( Exam ) It is also known that the stress of strong labor pains often worsens the condition of the fetus.

Testing and diagnosis

Although the clinical symptoms are often clear, it is important to determine the cause as soon as possible and take appropriate measures.

Treatment methods

If the condition develops during administration of labor-inducing drugs, the administration will be discontinued and efforts will be made to improve the overall condition of the mother and child. Tocolytic drugs may also be administered if necessary.

If the cause cannot be eliminated, vaginal delivery is abandoned and delivery by cesarean section is performed.

What to do if you notice an illness

If you feel contractions in your uterus without pause during short contractions or if the pain is very severe, you should explain the situation to your doctor or midwife to determine whether you are experiencing hypertonic labour.
