Flame Mountain

...The Turpan Basin, which is 60km north to south and 120km east to west and drops into a bowl shape on the eastern side of the Tianshan Mountains, is known as the lowest place in China. The surface of Lake Aiding at the bottom of the basin is -154m above sea level, and its depth is -399m, making it the second deepest in the world after the Dead Sea. It is the land of the famous Flame Mountains from Journey to the West, and as symbolized by its name of Huozhou in the Yuan Dynasty, the area is extremely hot in the summer, with the maximum temperature exceeding 40°C nearly 40 days a year. It is also famous for its low rainfall and strong winds.
