...A mirror made in the Tang dynasty in China. During the Tang dynasty, a court culture developed centered around Chang'an and Luoyang, and mirrors were prized for their different tastes than in the previous dynasty. Many Tang mirrors are made of cupronickel and are thick, and come in a wide variety of shapes, including circular, square, eight-flowered, and octagonal. The designs on the backs of mirrors also feature a variety of techniques, including mother-of-pearl, cloisonné, gold and silver inlay, and silver plating. During the transitional period from the Six Dynasties mirrors to the Tang mirrors, there was a style of mirror called the Sui mirror. This style includes the Four Gods mirror, and there are many excellent pieces such as the Group Flower Pattern mirror. ...
