Chalcedonian Creed - Chalcedonian Creed

Japanese:
Chalcedonian Creed - Chalcedonian Creed
A creed established at the Council of Chalcedon in 451. It is the basis of the doctrine of the so-called Chalcedonian Church (later the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church). In order to settle a doctrinal dispute that arose over the delicate issue of the relationship between the divinity and humanity of Christ, it states that Christ possesses perfect divinity and perfect humanity, and defines the relationship between the two with the negative expression "unmixed, unchanging, indivisible, inseparable." The first half of this creed rejects Monophysitism, which asserted the primacy of divinity, while the second half criticizes Nestorius, who asserted a clear division between humanity and divinity.
