Flower glume - Kaei

Japanese: 花頴 - かえい
Flower glume - Kaei

Rice is an annual plant of the grass family that is one of the world's three major cereal grains, along with wheat and corn. Its grain, rice, provides the staple food for half of the world's population. In Japan, it has been an important crop that has been positioned at the center of agriculture since ancient times.
[Origin and spread]
More than 20 species of wild rice (genus Oryza) grow naturally in the wetlands of the world's tropical and warm temperate zones. Various theories have been proposed for the classification of the Oryza genus since ancient times, but the most widely accepted view is that it is divided into four sections, Oryzae , Ridleyanae , Granulatae , and Schlechterianae , based on the number of chromosomes and genome analysis.
