Oroshi Inclined Shaft - Oroshi Shako

...The inclined shaft or vertical shaft is dug 350m underground, and the horizontal tunnels reach the coal seam, from which the inclined shaft is excavated. The inclined shaft in the bedrock below the coal seam is called the oroshi inclined shaft or simply oroshi, and is the main tunnel for the mine. From here, a kataban tunnel is drilled parallel to the coal seam, and then a menuki tunnel is drilled to reach the coal seam. Once the coal seam is reached, a side tunnel is drilled through the coal along the seam, completing preparations for mining.
