Ohebiichigo - Ohebiichigo

Japanese: オヘビイチゴ - おへびいちご
Ohebiichigo - Ohebiichigo

A perennial plant of the Rosaceae family (APG classification: Rosaceae). The basal leaves are palmately compound with five leaflets, and the upper stem leaves are trifoliate. In May and June, it produces yellow, five-petaled flowers with a diameter of about 1 cm. There are five sepals and five parasepals. The fruit is an achene. Roots are often seen growing from the nodes of the flower stalk that are on the ground. In Japan, it is commonly found in wilderness areas throughout the country except Hokkaido, especially on the ridges of rice fields, and is distributed in Korea, China, and the Himalayas. In China, the entire plant is used for medicinal purposes.
