Obakotoge Pass

A pass located in the saddle in the northeast of Obakodake in southern Nara Prefecture. It is about 1,230 meters above sea level. It is hardly used now, but it was once bustling with people and horses traveling along the Minami-Koya Highway connecting Mount Koya and Kumano, and was a thriving area despite being a difficult place to pass. If you head south from the pass, passing through Imose in Totsukawa Village and descending along the Kanno River, you will reach Kazaya Dam, and after crossing the Kawazu Ohashi Bridge, you will come out onto National Route 168.

奈良県南部、伯母子岳北東部の鞍部(あんぶ)にある峠。標高約1230メートル。現在はほとんど利用されていないが、かつて高野山(こうやさん)と熊野を結ぶ南高野街道を往来する人馬でにぎわい、難所ではあったが栄えていた。峠から南へ十津川(とつかわ)村五百瀬(いもせ)を経て神納(かんの)川に沿って下ると風屋(かざや)ダムに至り、川津大橋を渡ると国道168号に出る。
