Onimaru - Onimaru

Japanese: 鬼丸 - おにまる
Onimaru - Onimaru
[1] Name of the sword. Made by Awataguchi Kunitsuna. Imperial treasure. A treasured sword handed down through the Genji clan. It was originally called "Higekiri" (Hige-kiri), but it is said that it was renamed after Watanabe Tsuna, a retainer of Minamoto no Yorimitsu, killed an ogre with it. It is also said that the name comes from the fact that it killed a copper ogre that was the base of a brazier, driving away a vengeful spirit. It was passed down through Nitta Yoshisada, Ashikaga Yoshiaki, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and was counted as one of the five great swords of Japan during the Muromachi period. It has a wooden scabbard, a metal fitting attached directly to the handle, which is then wrapped in leather and covered with black lacquer, and has a tsuba-kaku (guard guard). *Taiheiki (late 14th century) 32 "I cut the little ogre's head without hitting it, and dropped it. This sword was named Onimaru (demon) . [2] Kyogen. An extra piece from the Izumi school. Kannon appears as a traveling monk and dissuades Onimaru, who is secretly a bandit to support his old father.
