Aunis - Aunis (English spelling)

The old name of a French province facing the Atlantic Ocean. Its former capital was La Rochelle. It mainly corresponds to the northwestern part of the present Charente-Maritime department, and is a plain between the Charente and Sèvres-Niortaise rivers. Fishing and tourism are carried out on the coast, while dairy cattle farming and vegetable cultivation are the main industries in the inland area.

フランスの大西洋に面した旧州名。かつての州都はラ・ロシェル。主として現在のシャラント・マリティーム県の北西部に相当し、シャラント川とセーブル・ニオルテーズ川に挟まれた平地である。海岸部は漁業活動と観光業が行われ、内陸部は乳牛の牧畜と野菜栽培が主である。
