Masashige Okudaira

Japanese: 奥平昌成 - おくだいらまさしげ

1694-1746 A daimyo from the early to mid-Edo period.
Born on November 6, 1604. The second son of Okudaira Masaaki. At the age of two in 1605, he became the lord of Utsunomiya Domain in Shimotsuke. After serving as the lord of Miyazu Domain in Tango (Kyoto Prefecture), he became the first head of the Okudaira clan to become the lord of Nakatsu Domain in Buzen (Oita Prefecture) in 1616. He had a fief of 100,000 koku. He issued domain paper money (Kyoho paper money) and promulgated an edict of thrift. He died on November 14, 1616. He was 53 years old. His childhood name was Kumataro. His first name was Masaharu.

元禄(げんろく)7年11月6日生まれ。奥平昌章の次男。元禄8年2歳で下野(しもつけ)宇都宮藩主となる。丹後(京都府)宮津藩主をへて,享保(きょうほう)2年豊前(ぶぜん)中津藩(大分県)藩主奥平家初代。10万石。藩札(享保札)の発行,倹約令の発布などをおこなった。延享3年11月14日死去。53歳。幼名は熊太郎。初名は昌春。
