…A legend, tale, or heroic epic poem passed down among the Turks, with a character named Oghuz Khan (Oghuz Qaghan) as the protagonist. Among the various extant texts, the most detailed are the tale included in Rashid al-Din's Jami'-shi (Collection of the Histories) from the early 14th century, and the tale written in Middle Turkish using Uighur script (also called Oghuz-nameh), which is also believed to have been written in the same 14th century.
