Born June 2, 1889. Second son of Oyama Iwao. In 1923 he went to Europe to study prehistory under H. Schmidt and others. In the early Showa period he established the Oyama Prehistory Research Institute in Aoyama, Tokyo. In 1931 he founded the Society for Prehistory and launched the Prehistory Journal. He devoted himself to research into Paleolithic tools. Died August 20, 1969. Age 80. Born in Kagoshima Prefecture. Graduated from the Army Academy.
