…He was the seventh son of Prince Naga and the younger brother of Fumimura Jōzō. He was originally called Oichi no Omi, and in 739 (Tenpyō 11) was promoted from no rank to Junior Fourth Rank, later he became the Minister of Justice and supervised the funeral of Prince Asaka, and when Emperor Genshō died he became the official costume officer, and in 752 (Tenpyō Shōhō 4) he was granted the title of Fumimura no Mahito, and then when Empress Dowager Fujiwara no Miyako died he became the official mountain officer. At that time many members of the imperial family were falling into crime, so he became a monk to ensure his own safety. …
