[2] A place name in the northwest of Tokyo. Taniguchi village developed where the Tama River flows out of the Kanto Mountains onto the Musashino Plateau. A post station on the Ome Kaido road. Formerly a producer of cotton fabrics such as ōme-stripes. Established as a city in 1951 .
