An old town in the middle reaches of the Monobe River in Kami District, Kochi Prefecture. The main settlement is Mirafu, and the surrounding area is covered with extensive river terraces, producing rice paddies and high-quality Niro rice. In March 2006, the town merged with Tosayamada Town and Monobe Village in Kami District to become a city, Kami City. Area: 130.37 km2 . Population: 5,705 (2003). 高知県香美(かみ)郡,物部川中流域の旧町。主集落は美良布(びらふ)で,付近に河岸段丘が広く発達,水田地帯をなし良米の韮生(にろう)米を多産する。2006年3月,香美郡土佐山田町,物部村と合併し市制,香美市となる。130.37km2。5705人(2003)。
