〘 noun 〙 A school that was active in Edo. ① A school of waka poetry. Kato Shidao, Kato Chikage, Murata Shunkai and other disciples of Kamo Mabuchi became central figures after Mabuchi's death and became the mainstream of the poetry world in the late early modern period. While their teacher Mabuchi was in the style of the Manyoshu, this school blended the Kokinshu and Shin Kokinshu styles with the liberal tastes of Edo. Inoue Fumio, Shimizu Hamaomi and others. ② = Edoza (Edoza) * Seishin Ruten (1939) < Okamoto Kanoko > "I was asked to write a modern Edo-style haiku poem to be dedicated to Mimeguri Inari Shrine." ③ A school of Chinese painting. 〘名〙江戸にあって活躍した一派をいう。① 和歌の一流派。賀茂真淵の門人、加藤枝直、加藤千蔭、村田春海などが、真淵の死後中心となって、近世後期の歌壇の主流となったもの。師の真淵が万葉調であったのに対し、古今、新古今調に江戸の寛闊な趣味を調和させた作風。井上文雄、清水浜臣など。② ＝えどざ（江戸座）※生々流転（1939）〈岡本かの子〉「三囲稲荷(みめぐりいなり)に献額する現代江戸派の俳諧の揮毫を頼まれて」③ 漢画の一派。谷文晃の門をいい、渡辺崋山、椿椿山、高久靄厓などが出た。〔随筆・山中人饒舌（1813）〕
