...We cannot ignore the famous violinist Karol Józef Lipiński (1790-1861) and the female pianist Maria Agata Szymanowska (1789-1831), who left behind piano pieces such as mazurkas and polonaises. In the second half of the 19th century, Poland's first symphonic poem Zygmunt Noskowski (1846-1909), who wrote "On the Steppes" (1897), the composer and educator Władysław Żeleński (1837-1921), the song and piano composer Eugeniusz Pankiewicz (1857-98), and the famous violinist Bieniawski appeared. Oskar Kolberg (1814-1890) also collected and studied approximately 26,000 folk songs, and published 33 volumes of the Polish Folk Songs during his lifetime.
