Ethionamide - Echionamido (English spelling) ethionamide

An anti-tuberculosis drug. Its anti-tuberculosis effect is weaker than that of isoniazid, but it is effective against isoniazid-resistant bacteria. Side effects include stomach disorders such as loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting, and serious liver disorders such as fulminant hepatitis and acute hepatitis. The dosage is started at 0.3 grams per day and gradually increased to 0.5 to 0.7 grams taken 1 to 3 times a day. Suppositories are also available, but stomach disorders were also seen as a side effect.

抗結核薬。抗結核菌作用はイソニアジドよりも弱いが、イソニアジド耐性菌に有効である。副作用としては食欲不振、悪心(おしん)、嘔吐(おうと)などの胃障害が主で、重大なものとして、劇症肝炎、急性肝炎など重篤な肝障害が現れることがある。1日0.3グラムから始めて漸増し、0.5～0.7グラムを1～3回に分服する。なお、坐薬(ざやく)もあったが、やはり副作用として胃障害がみられた。
