Backside of Yabakei

...The valley of the Atsuda River, where the famous Rakanji Temple is located, is called Rakanji Yabakei. Meanwhile, the upper reaches of the tributary Yamautsuri River are called Shin-Yabakei, and the upper reaches of the Kaneyoshi River are called Ura-Yabakei. These areas are dominated by Shin-Yabakei lava with thick vertical columnar joints, and the erosion of these lava creates a landscape of forested rock pillars. Representative scenic spots include the Hitome Hakkei and Tachihada no Scenic.
