In western Japan, type (2) is prominent, and the Kojin worshipped at the village level is called Ubusuna Kojin, and is considered to be the protector of agriculture and of life in general. Type (3) is strong in Tottori, Shimane, and Okayama prefectures, and its religious center seems to have been Mt.
