Wood club

Japanese: ウッドクラブ（英語表記）wood club

A type of golf club used for distance. Originally, wooden heads were used, but now most are made of metal or carbon. Five clubs are commonly used, in order of the angle of the hitting surface: Driver (No. 1), Brassie (No. 2), Spoon (No. 3), Buffy (No. 4), and Creek (No. 5). As the number increases, the angle of the hitting surface increases and the distance decreases. Normally, due to the rule that the number of clubs used is limited to 14, players select three or four of these according to their preference. The driver and brassie are mainly used for the first shot.

ゴルフクラブの一種で，飛距離を目的として使用される。当初は頭部に木が用いられたが，現在では金属やカーボン製が多数を占める。打球面の角度の小さいものから順に，ドライバー (1番) ，ブラッシー (2番) ，スプーン (3番) ，バッフィー (4番) ，クリーク (5番) の5本が一般的に使われ，番号が大きくなるにつれ，打球の角度が大きく，飛距離が短くなる。普通には使用クラブ数を 14本までと規定したルールの都合上，このうちの3本または4本をプレーヤーの好みによって選択し使用する。ドライバー，ブラッシーの2本は主として第1打用に使われる。
