Cattaneo, Carlo
Born: June 15, 1801, Milan
[Died] February 6, 1869. An Italian man of letters, mathematician, jurist, linguist, and ethnologist from near Lugano, Switzerland. In 1839, he published the progressive cultural magazine Il Politecnico. During the revolution of 1848, he led the people in Milan, but after the Austrian government was restored to power, he went into exile in Switzerland. There, he republished Politecnico and made a great effort for the Risorgimento (national unification movement). His main work is Notizie naturali e civili su la Lombardia (1844).

Cattaneo, Danese (di Michele)

Born: 1509, Carrara
Died in 1573. Padua. Italian sculptor. As a pupil of Jacobo Sansovino, he collaborated with him in Rome, Florence, and Venice. In 1533, he produced a plaster relief for the chapel of St. Anthony in Perugia. After 1565, he was active in Verona and Venice, and in 1572, he returned to Padua and planned a large relief for the chapel of St. Anthony, but died in the middle of the project.

イタリアの彫刻家。ヤコボ・サンソビーノの弟子として,ローマ,フィレンツェ,ベネチアで共同制作。 1533年ペルジャで聖アントニオ聖堂の礼拝堂に石膏浮彫を制作。 65年以後ベロナ,ベネチアで活躍し,72年再びパドバにおもむき,聖アントニオ聖堂の礼拝堂のために大浮彫を計画したが,制作のなかばで没した。
