Born: June 15, 1801, Milan [Died] February 6, 1869. An Italian man of letters, mathematician, jurist, linguist, and ethnologist from near Lugano, Switzerland. In 1839, he published the progressive cultural magazine Il Politecnico. During the revolution of 1848, he led the people in Milan, but after the Austrian government was restored to power, he went into exile in Switzerland. There, he republished Politecnico and made a great effort for the Risorgimento (national unification movement). His main work is Notizie naturali e civili su la Lombardia (1844). Cutter Neo |
