Located on the summit of Mt. Gassan in Tachikawa-cho (now Shonai-cho), Higashitagawa-gun, Yamagata Prefecture. Also known as Tsukiyamajinja. Formerly a government-sponsored shrine, it enshrines Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto. Along with Dewa Yudono-san Shrine, it is one of the Dewa Sanzan Shrines. It is a famous shrine listed in the Engishiki, and has flourished as a sacred place of Shugendo since the Middle Ages. It is enshrined at Dewa Shrine due to the difficulty of climbing in winter. The annual festival is held on July 15th.
