Musical Instrument Museum

Japanese:
Musical Instrument Museum
A specialized museum that exhibits musical instruments. Most exhibit instruments that have played an important role in music history, but some have a more limited range, such as keyboard instruments, automatic instruments, or folk instruments. There are educational museums that comprehensively display a variety of instruments to meet the needs of the general public, and museums that focus on historical instruments and are used for research into musical instruments, with the latter being the most current type. This is not unrelated to the fact that in the 20th century, the value of early music was rediscovered and the importance of musical instruments was recognized as a result of the spotlight being placed on folk music, leading to the development of a new academic field: the historical study of musical instruments.
