It has been a key transportation point since ancient times, and Iwase Station appears in the Engishiki, but Higashi-Iwase was first seen in 1572 (Genki 3). In the early modern period, the course of the Jinzu River changed, forming a port, which connected with Hida Province and became a relay point for Hida timber and Noto salt. …
