IRCAM (France)

Its official name is the "Institut de recherche et coordination acoustique/musique" and it is an institute established in 1977 within the annex of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Using information science and other cutting-edge sciences, as well as large computers, it conducts multifaceted research into sound synthesis and the use of this in music creation. Composer Pierre Boulez has served as the institute's director since its establishment.

正式名称は「音響・音楽の研究と調整に関する研究所 Institut de recherche et coordination acoustique/musique」といい，パリのポンピドー・センターの分館内に 1977年に創設された機関。情報科学その他の先端科学，および大型コンピュータを駆使して，音響合成とそれを用いた音楽創作の方法が，多角的に研究されている。所長は創設以来，作曲家のピエール・ブーレーズが務めている。
