Born on June 8, 1887. After graduating from Tokyo Higher Commercial School (now Hitotsubashi University), he studied the hotel industry in China and Europe. He was discovered by Kihachiro Okura, and upon his return to Japan in 1919 he became assistant manager of the Imperial Hotel, and in 1945 he became president. He served as chairman of the Japan Hotel Association from 1948, and promoted the modernization of the hotel industry. He passed away on April 9, 1981. He was 93 years old.
