... Among the modern folk songs named "oiwake," there are those with lively shamisen accompaniment such as "Shinano Oiwake" and those with a slower tempo in the style of a horse-carrying song. For example, "Oki Oiwake" (Shimane Prefecture) and "Honjo Oiwake" belong to the former, while "Echigo Oiwake," "Izumo Oiwake," and "Esashi Oiwake" belong to the latter. The fact that the former oiwake-bushi with shamisen accompaniment was the original tone can be inferred from the existence of works called "Esashi Mitsukudairi" and "Matsumae Mitsukudairi," which are prototypes of the latter and directly follow the lyrics and backing music of "Shinano Oiwake."...

…　〈追分〉と名づけられた現行民謡には，《信濃追分》のようなにぎやかな三味線伴奏のものと，テンポのゆるやかな馬子歌調のものとがある。たとえば《隠岐（おき）追分》(島根県)，《本荘追分》は前者に，《越後追分》や《出雲追分》《江差追分》などは後者に属する。発生的には前者の三味線伴奏の追分節のほうが原調であったらしいことは，後者の祖型として，《信濃追分》の歌詞や後囃子をそのまま踏襲した《江差三下り》とか《松前三下り》と称するものがあることからも察せられる。…
