…Blended yarns are yarns made by averaging and mixing multifilament yarns of two or more fibers. Blends of nylon and acetate, and triacetate and polyester were developed and sold in Japan in 1967. Fancy yarns are decorative yarns made with the intention of giving a unique appearance to textiles, and include heathered yarns made by twisting together two or more yarns of different colors, and loop and ring yarns with loops here and there.

During spinning, dozens to thousands of twists are automatically applied per meter, with strong twist being called hard twist and weak twist, like that of knitted thread, being loose twist.

…混繊糸は2種以上の繊維のマルチフィラメント糸を平均化して混ぜ合わせて作った糸であり，ナイロンとアセテート，トリアセテートとポリエステルを混繊したものが日本で1967年に開発され販売されている。意匠糸は織物に変わった外観を与えようという意図で作られた飾糸であり，2本以上の色違い糸を撚り合わせた杢糸（もくいと），ところどころに輪を作ったループ糸やリング糸などが含まれる。
