〘Noun〙 An ancient type of divination using stones. It is said that fortune is judged by kicking or lifting a stone and determining its weight. It is said that stones from within the grounds of a shrine are used, and fortune is told by throwing the stone and seeing whether it reaches a set spot, or by the direction it takes, or by the increase or decrease in the number of stones. 〘名〙 古代の、石による占いの一種。石を蹴り、または持ち上げて、その軽重によって吉凶を判定するといわれる。神社の境内などの石を使い、また、その石を投げて定めた所に達するかどうか、あるいはその方角、石の数の増減によって占うともいわれる。いわうら。※万葉（８Ｃ後）三・四二〇「夕占問ひ 石卜(いしうら)もちて わが宿に みもろを立てて」
