In the early modern period, it was called Yamanakago, the territory of the Soma Domain, and the domain's jinya was located in Iihi. The current central settlement, Kusano, is a key transportation point connecting the Hamadori and Nakadori regions, and in the early modern period, it was a bustling area with a wholesaler's office for the collection and distribution of goods and the transfer of people and horses. …
