Ankaiken

…A Goryeo civil servant and scholar. His name was Kan and his pen name was Shiun. He was from Sunheung. During the Yi Dynasty, he avoided the king's given name and was called Anyu. He held the office of Dujin Yi Jungsan. During the reign of King Chungnyeol, he was the advocate of Goryeo Confucianism and accompanied the king to Yenching (Beijing) in the Yuan Dynasty. He copied the Complete Works of Zhu Xi before returning home, and was the first to bring Zhu Xi's teachings to Korea. He made efforts to promote education, such as by building schools, and in his later years he always displayed a statue of Zhu Xi out of his reverence, and took one character from Zhu Xi's pen name (Hui An) to call himself Hui Hen.
