[Archaic Period (700-500 BC)]
This is the period that marks the early stage of Greek art, from the dissolution of the geometric style to the outbreak of the Persian Wars. In the 7th century BC, the so-called "Orientalized" style of pottery, which used decorative motifs such as animals, plants, and fantastic monsters, came into fashion to replace the geometric style.
