American bamboo grass - American bamboo grass

...The Japanese name is Koya-zasa, which probably means the bamboo that grows on Mount Koya in Wakayama Prefecture. This grass is distributed from the Chubu region west of Japan, Shikoku, and Kyushu to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China, and its basic variety, American Koya-zasa, is widely known in the Appalachian Mountains of the United States. It is a thin herb about 60 cm tall that grows in sparse forests and grasslands in mountainous areas, and grows in sparse clumps.
