Azide - Ajikabutsu (English spelling) azide

The organic compound RN ₃ has an azide group N _3. It is also called azide. R can be an alkyl group C _n H _2n+1 - (abbreviated as R'), an acyl group R'CO-, or a sulfonyl group R'SO ₂ -. It is often synthesized by reacting a halide RX with sodium azide NaN ₃ .

It is an unstable explosive compound that releases nitrogen gas when exposed to heat or light to produce the highly reactive unstable intermediate nitrene R. It is an important raw material for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds containing nitrogen atoms.

アジド基N₃をもつ有機化合物RN₃。アジドともいう。Rとしてアルキル基C_nH_2n+1-（略号はR'）、アシル基R'CO-、スルホニル基R'SO₂-などがある。ハロゲン化物RXとアジ化ナトリウムNaN₃との反応により合成されることが多い。
