Accordion door - accordion door

A simple, retractable partition. It was given this name due to its resemblance to the accordion's bellows body. Many of these partitions have guide rails attached to the ceiling, a metal frame hung from it, and are covered in cloth or leather. They are used in offices to separate conference rooms, in restaurants to separate dining areas, and in homes to separate living rooms and dining rooms. Some have curved guide rails, and some have fabric that has been treated to be fireproof. There is a great deal of freedom in design depending on the choice of surface material, and they are easy to handle, but they do not completely block out sound, air, and heat.

伸縮式の簡易間仕切り。アコーディオンの蛇腹胴に似ているところから、この名称がつけられた。天井にガイドレールを取り付け、金属製の枠組みをつって、それを布やレザーで覆った形式のものが多い。オフィスでは会議室、レストランでは食堂区切り、住宅では居間や食事室などに使われる。ガイドレールが曲線のものや、布地に防炎処理を施したものもある。表面材の選択によるデザインの自由度が大きく、取扱いも容易であるが、音、空気、熱の遮断は完全ではない。
