Zaubergarten

According to him, before the emergence of rationalization, humans adapted to the world around them using magic. These "magic gardens" were broken down as a result of the combined forces of "theoretical rationalization" that leads to "science" and "practical rationalization" that leads to the formation of an internally consistent attitude to life and ethos. The result of rationalization is "liberation from the magic of the world".
