Japanese: アシュク・パシャ・ザーデ(英語表記)Ahmet Aşık Paşa Zade
Ahmet Aşık Paşa Zade
1393?-1481
An early Ottoman chronicler. Also written as Āşıkpaşazāde. He is considered the founder of Ottoman historiography. Born in Amasiyya, he was the grandson of the Anatolian mystic poet Āşik Pasha and spent his life as a dervish (ascetic). He was also an ardent warrior of faith (ghazi), and participated in the Ottoman campaigns in the Battle of Kosovo (1448), the Hungarian expedition, and the conquest of Constantinople (1453). He wrote the history of the Ottoman dynasty in a simple epic style, incorporating his own experiences, and is the most important source of historical information on the early Ottoman period.
