… Today, strikes take many different forms. When trade unions had a monopoly on the supply of skilled workers, strikes took the form of walk-outs, where workers walked out of factories or workplaces. But as the proportion of semi-skilled and unskilled workers increased in the age of monopoly capitalism, strikebreakers could easily be brought in to break strikes, so sit-down strikes, where workers sit down in the workplace and do not work, became the norm.
