Trommsdorff, JB (English spelling) TrommsdorffJB

...Volume 1 covers general topics such as chemical affinity, dissolution, and changes in state due to calorific elements, volumes 2-15 cover inorganic chemistry, volumes 16-18 cover organic chemistry, and the three supplementary volumes cover analytical chemistry such as the analysis of hot springs. According to the preface, the original was a German translation of the second edition (1801) of An Epitome of Experimental Chemistry by W. Henry of England, which was expanded and translated by the German J.B. Trommsdorff (1770-1837), which was then expanded and retranslated into Dutch by A. Ypey (1749-1820) and published in Amsterdam in 1808 (this is said to be Chemie voor Beginnende Liefhbbers of Aanleiding (1803)). Yoan compared and cited over twenty Dutch books, including the original text, the Dutch translation of Lavoisier's Traité élémentaire de chimie (1789), the Original Chemical Text (1800), Ipey's Yishi Guangi (1804), and Smalenburg's Susi Shami (1827), as well as Japanese and Chinese books, and he also conducted his own experiments and studies in writing this book, so it is not just a translation.
