...Humans' limited memory can only produce a limited number of segments of meaning, and humans combine these thousands to tens of thousands of segments of meaning to create lines of infinite diversity. In this way, each line (utterance, sentence) is segmented into tiny segments of meaning (signifiers), and the content is determined by the recognition of these segments and the way in which they are combined. This segmentation is called primary segmentation.
