Aleksei Petrovich Bestuzhev-Ryumin (1693-1768), who served as chancellor from 1744 to 1758 and was in charge of foreign affairs, implemented an alliance with Britain and Austria, and an expansionist policy toward Sweden, Poland, and Turkey, and in the last years of her reign, Russia also participated in the Seven Years' War.
