...This libido also travels between the object and the ego. When the libido is directed toward a loved object, it appropriates the object and becomes the object libido, and when the object libido is withdrawn, it becomes the ego libido (narcissistic libido). Here, a certain amount of energy is assumed to move and increase or decrease, and the ego cannot tolerate the excessive accumulation of energy and turns toward the object.
